From Castel Rundegg you can quickly reach specially marked cycle paths that will take you into the heart of orchards, cultivated terraced landscape of the hinterland of Merano. From Spring until the end of October, you can plan a cycling holiday in our region as we have so many beautifully maintained gravel or tarmac roads.
In this blog post, you can admire the scenes from the circle bike trip started at Castel Rundegg towards “Dorf Tirol”. Just around the corner of Castel Rundegg, you follow a marked macadam trail that will lead you along the river and apple orchards. It includes the climb towards Dorf Tirol, where you reach the beautiful viewpoint over Merano city. From Dorf Tirol you can follow the so-called “Wine Weg” that will lead you towards Algund, snaking the many vineyards, orchards and castles. If you are making the round trip, in Algund you can follow the trail back to Merano.
