"Since my youth I have dreamed of owning my own hotel, and with Castel Rundegg I have fulfilled my dream," says castle owner David. This passion for hospitality can be felt right down to the last corner of the time-honoured manor. With his easy-going charm, he brings a breath of fresh air to the old walls and makes sure that his guests feel right at home from the very first moment. His staff share his vision and philosophy, and together they have created a place where you can be fully human and enjoy yourself free of any etiquette in a dignified, elegant ambience.
Easy-going, always humorous and with an affinity for the needs of the guest - that's how every single Rundegg employee meets you. So that you feel welcome and secure and can enjoy every single minute at Rundegg to the full, completely at ease and well looked after. Sympathetic perfectionists - that's how we are.
The harmony of contrasts is truly celebrated at Castel Rundegg: Modern zeitgeist in a historic ambience and typical South Tyrolean hospitality promise a unique feel-good ambience in which it is so wonderfully easy to relax.
The room was a good size and had a big comfortable bed. Facilities of the hotel are great- the indoor pool is fantastic, plus they provide towels and robes. The gym/fitness centre is a little dated but is still really good and we made good use of it. Sonja at reception was so lovely, really friendly and helpful. Beautiful hotel and good breakfast.

We’ve been visiting Merano (charming place) for many years for our stay this time we chose Castel Rundegg ,though we are still enjoying our days at the Castle we felt impelled to write our impressions from our first week. The Castle is full of charm and character, beautifully furnished with vintage and antique, museum quality paintings adorn it’s walls and guest rooms. The location could not be better a few short minutes walk to the center. Our room is very spacious, all the toiletries are French made . The staff could not be more friendly and attentive, my wife which has disabilities and food restrictions we feel that this’s being taken care of with great attention by all. As we are staying on a half board basis we are enjoying dinners at the hotel every night in a most lovely setting, a dining room with vaulted ceilings that transports you back into a far away past. The dinner consists of a five course, plus a salad bar, with a menu that changes every day. Wine list is extensive with some excellent local wines. This property also houses a wonderful spa which is beautifully designed cozy and intimate, with a large indoor pool and fitness room There are sauna rooms too, wet and dry . Must mention also their massage treatments to which we both enjoyed . The Castel is enclaved on its own lush, park like, gardens with many sitting areas to relax or take the sun on a lounge chair. Castle Rundegg will delight you.

We had another fantastic week long stay at this wonderful hotel with its own fabulous restaurant & spa! The proprietors & their staff are most accommodating & friendly - can’t say enough about them. In the past, I have neglected to mention their restaurant & spa - both on par with any in Meran, and we made good use of both! If old castles with old world charm are appealing to you, do not hesitate to book here. Until next year, thank you again!
