Each moment of the year has its own beauty. (Ralph Waldo Emerson)
In winter, be sure to check out the
Merano 2000 ski resort which is not far from Castle Hotel Castel Rundegg, South Tyrol’s number one spot for wellness and beauty holidays. If you’re looking for adventure or if you would like to enjoy relaxing walks in the idyllic winter scenery, Merano is the place to come to. After an exciting day on the pistes or on a snow shoe hike, rest on an Alpine hut in the mountains or chill out in the Merano
spa or in our very own in-house spa area.
In summer, the gardens surrounding the Castle Hotel in Merano spring to life, showing their unfathomable variety of flora and fauna. Visit the Botanical Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, or go on exciting hikes, bicycle tours or romantic walks in the pristine nature – carefree summer days you will never forget! Other activities include golf, horseback riding, swimming or visits to some of South Tyrol’s beautiful parks (one of which, Maiser Park, was constructed especially for the guests of the Obermais health centers, in 1895).Hiking trails near Castel Rundegg Health & Beauty Farm
Maiser Waalweg trail (9 km)“Waalweg” means irrigation ditch. There are several such ditches which have dried up and now serve as wonderful hiking trails in the midst of unspoilt nature. This particular trail leads through deciduous trees and conifers, over beautiful hills into the Passiria valley and all the way to Saltusio. The entire trail takes about 2-3 hours to walk but can be shortened according to your liking.
Tappeinerweg trail (6 km)
This hugely popular trail offers stunning views of Merano and the Adige valley. The botanical nature trail leads past a variety of interesting plants all the way to the famous medieval Ortenstein tower, popularly called “Pulverturm” (powder tower), which was used to store gunpowder from the 17th century onwards. The trail leads along the foothills of Küchelberg mountain (380 m above sea level) from Quarazze eastwards to San Zeno mountain. The trail lies some 100 m above the valley and is relatively flat and easily accessible from many starting points.
