Hotel Castel Rundegg is situated in Obermais, the most elegant part of town of the famous health resort Merano.

It was one of the first main tourist centers under the Habsburg rule, constantly attracting important cultural and political personalities as well as scientists and doctors, who appreciated the mild, Mediterranean climate which was perfectly suited to healing lung problems in particular.

The Merano health resort has always had a very special flair and a romantic atmosphere, nowhere more so than in the noble Obermais quarter along the road of the Botanical Gardens of Trauttmansdorff castle. This is the oldest quarter of Merano, where you will find villas, castles and picturesque parks which are testimony to an era of class and affluence. Trauttmansdorff Castle and its splendid Botanical Gardens are situated in close proximity to Castel Rundegg Health & Beauty Farm, as are the idyllically placed St. Valentine chapel, Rametz castle and Labers castle. There are many other famous churches here, such as the Heilig Geist (Holy Ghost) and Georgskirche churches.
